The Killers, one of Pop and Culture's favorite bands, trotted out two new songs at an exclusive fanclub only show last week in NYC. According to various reports, the Vegas-based band will be trying out some new tracks here in the States and in the U.K. (Reading and Leeds festivals) over the next few weeks as they finalize their third studio album which is supposedly due out in November.
The first one posted below is "Spaceman" and definitely has more of a synthesized "Hot Fuss" feel and the second is "Neon Tiger" which sounds like it could have come straight off of "Sam's Town".
And that's what I really like about The Killers right now: I know they got ripped when Brandon compared them to Springsteen when "Sam's Town" was released in '06 but now they are really coming into their own with a very distinct sound - a great blend of classic rock combined with a synthesized modern flare. It's retro and progressive at the same time, but without coming off too cliche either way. I'm just not hearing it anywhere else.
Enjoy!
